Barcelona Pick of the week 7-13 June 2010

Museo de Cera, Wax Museum Barcelona

El Rancho Grande (Avinguda Diagonal 73)
El Rancho Grande does not have a high record because of its luxury or external appearance, but it does concerning its non-touristic setting and delicious dishes. In fact it is so out of the box it doesn´t have a sign on the front outside, so it is recommended to take a taxi to this part of the Avinguda Diagonal. There´s no menu, only large size dishes containing fish and meat from which you can order whatever you like. The Mallorcan couple that runs the restaurant will prepare the food on a large grill, guaranteeing a magnificent meal.

Artesano 2010 (Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina, s/n – 5 & 6 June)
Artesano 2010 will be celebrated for the first time in Barcelona, which has everything to do with bohemian art. Different professionals will participate in the Artesano 2010 exhibition in Barcelona, from paintors to inventors and from writers to models. You may want to combine your stay in an apartment in Barcelona with a visit to this new fair of Artisano 2010.

Wax museum Barcelona (Passeig Banca 5)Museo de Cera, Wax Museum Barcelona
The wax museum of Barcelona, Museu de la Cera, is hidden at the end of the Ramblas in a former bank building. In the museum are more than 350 statues made of wax, representing Gaudí of course, Franco and lots of other Spanish celebrities.
After your visit, you might want to go and have a drink at a very peculiar cafe opposite the museum; El Bosc de les Fades. It makes you feel you are in a forrest of trolls, accompanied by living trees, waterfalls and low tables and chairs.
