Barcelona Marathon 2011 !! 6th March, 2011

Barcelona's first marathon took place in 1980 and followed marathons celebrated in Palafrugell in 1978 and 1979. Today, the Barcelona marathon enjoys international prestige which its organizers do not hesitate to maximise. 10,000 participants are expected this year and we'll see if this year's winner will be the same as last year's, Kenyan Jackson Cotut in a time of 2:07:30.

The Barcelona marathon is fun for its competitors including amateurs, professionals or beginners, as well as its spectators who stand to watch from emblematic Barcelona's buildings and monuments offering the possibility to see Barcelona from a different perspective.

Kylie Minogue comes to Barcelona

Kylie Minogue, the little and beautiful lady, will perform on the 12th of March 2011 at the Palau Sant Jordi arena in Barcelona. This is a great concert location, close to the beautiful Montjuic parc.

You certainly got to have an apartment in Barcelona for this great concert of Kylie Minogue! This will be a concert of her big European tour called The Aphrodite ´Les Folies Tour 2011. Kylie Minogue will cross Europe with her amazing performances! Kylie Minogue is back and sexy as ever with her new 2011 tour, for her admiring fans throughout Europe.  The tour is named after her latest disco-infused album called Aphrodite. Kylie will perform new songs and her latest singles like ´Get outta My Way´and also the beautiful song ´All the lovers´.  The Kylie Minogue concert in Barcelona promises to be a spectacular live event in Palau Sant Jordi on the 12th of March 2011.

Carnival of Rome 2011

Habitat apartments  proposes you enjoy the wonderful Carnival of Rome!

The 2nd Carnival of Rome, jam-packed with a whole string of new ideas and surprises, is scheduled to be held from 26th February to 8th March 2011.

The Carnival’s events will take place in the capital’s main piazzas, as for example, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Venezia, …. events located  close to our Rome apartments.

A specially constructed village will provide the setting for the staging of “Commedia dell'arte” and horse shows in Piazza del Popolo very close to our Green apartment. The Carnival program moreover envisages daily performances of members of the Street Artists Association, with whom a Festival of Jugglers has been organised.

Rome Carnival is this year again twinned with the city of Venice and for the first time also with Viareggio and Rio de Janeiro.

A large exposition in the 'Centro de Arte Canal' brings us closer to this famous figure through pieces from around the world. With more than 330 pieces from 40 museums around the world this international exposition intends to show us the adventures of the great Alexander Magno III of Macedonia (356-323 BC) through different conquered territories: from Greece to the west until the Indus river, to the east, showing the oldest empire in history. The exposition shows us the cultural impact after the arrival of Alexander and is completed by a 3D film "Alexandria, the dream of Alexander" which was produced especially for this exposition.

Jarabedepalo is Pau Donés, and Pau Donés is Jarabedepalo (previously Jarabe de Palo). They met in 1997 thanks to the song 'La Flaca'  which has become a classic. The debut album has the same name and is surprising for its mix of latin rhythms and message of the songs. After this came the albums  “Depende”, “De vuelta y vuelta” and “Bonito” which were received well but did not enjoy the same success of the first album but enough for Alanis Morrisette to copy some of their videos. After 1m2, Adelantando and Orquesta recycling, an album with new versions of the greatest hits was realised and also a book, they return with ¿Y ahora qué hacemos? (Now what shall we do?), in which there is a version of the song 'Je l'aime a mourir' by Francis Cabrel, and includes colloborations with Alejandro Sanz, Joaquín Sabina, Antonio Orozco and Carlos Tarque (M-Clan singer). Theatrical visit to the 'Castillo de Manzanares el Real'. Madrid

Our last propousal  for this week to enjoy the city is an origina tour. A theater tour. During you stay in our Madrid apartments, you can enjoy of this unique experience.

This is the most emblematic and well conserved of the Madrid region. It is built in a Gothic ‘Elizabethan’ style in 1475 thanks to Diego Hurtado de Mendoza. Its creator was Juan Guas, an architect to the Catholic Royals. In 1931, it was declared Historical Artistic Monument and today houses the “Dirección General de Turismo de la Consejería de Economía y Hacienda” (General Tourism Council and Concierge of Economics & Housing). The theatrical visit to the “Castillo de Manzanares el Real” consists of a 45 minute guide through the rooms and monument by two actors interpreting a theatrical play written especially for this occasion adding a fictional element whilst showing the reality. ‘Don Pedro de Zúñiga y Salcedo’ and ‘Doña Isabel Asensio’ are two characters from the  17th century who receive visitors to the Castillo de Manzanares el Real and acompany you during the guide.
