The city is definitely a great place with varied events throughout the whole year, but the Dutch capital seems “to go the extra mile” during the warmer months. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week: Honestly, is there any person on earth who hasn’t heard about the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week? This famous event reaches out to Amsterdam every year in January and July and fills the streets with its own magical atmosphere. The renowned fashion week unites all the great names in fashion business and is a reliable source for all the big trends for the upcoming season. Since the major fashion shows in the Westergasfabriek of the big designers, like Versace, Gucci etc., are usually closed to the public, the Dutch Fashion Week organizes shows under the hostname “Downtown”, which present great clothes of newcomer designers in various, creative locations to the fashion-loving public of the city. Comedytrain International Summer Festival: Attention please, here comes something to attack your laughter muscles! The famous Comedytrain International Summer Festival is about to arrive at the Dutch capital. From July 2nd to August 2nd people can enjoy five weeks of more than just “joking around” by fantastic stand-up comedians of different genres. Each year the city’s famous Toomler comedy club welcomes some of the most famous and talented comedians from the UK, Australia, America and Canada to travel all the way to the Netherlands in order to please a humoristic audience in the Dutch capital. For all foreign visitors coming to town NOT speaking the local language: don’t worry, all the shows are in English and therefore perfect for an international crowd. The Lord of the Ring in Concert: Who else of you is a true lover of the story about the one ring to rule them all, a brave little Hobbit called Bilbo and a questionable contemporary known as Gollum? Everybody answering this question in the affirmative will probably be more than excited about the following event. Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw will hold “The Lord of the Ring in Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring” – a happening which should mark a true must-visit for real fantasy fans. On July 7th, 8th and 9th people can enjoy a live performance of the famous film music of the trilogy’s first movie composed by the award-winning Howard Shore. Tickets cost around 42,00€ and are available on the concert hall’s website.

Kwaku Festival: This festival is really one of the most manifold and colorful events taking place in the whole country of Holland. From July 12th to August 10th the great Kwaku Festival – formerly known as the Kwakoe Festival – will return to the Dutch capital to transform the area of Zuidoost into one vibrant place for the already 38th time. Kwaku is a traditional, multicultural get-together aiming to bring people of all facets closer to each other. What you will find here is a wide offer of different foods, drinks, sports and crafts combined with a diverse program of performances, workshops and Co. of all kinds. A special highlight usually is a big Caribbean market where you can find everything the tropic part of your heart desires. Embrace variety and be part of this amazing thing – for only 3,00€ entrance fee!
