In July we decided to surprise you with a nice Festival Edition – in order to go back to normal when it comes to event tips for Barcelona in August. Well… that didn’t work too well, since there are AGAIN tones of amazing festivals taking place in the Catalan capital. So consider last month’s idea to be continued and look forward to our Festival Edition 2.0.
Gracia Festival: Consider yourself a very lucky person if you have the possibility to spend some days in August in Barcelona and attend this amazing event. Every year in August the city’s beautiful district of Gràcia celebrates the areas very own festival. The Festa Major de Gràcia – also known as Gracia Festival – takes annually place from August 15th to 21st and is the biggest street festival in the Catalan capital. As the main event 17 streets in the older part of the district are decorated by the residents to one the one hand compete with the other streets and on the other hand turn the whole neighborhood into one magical place. Besides that you can find parades, street concerts and Co. Don’t miss that awesome spirit and join in!
Circuit Festival: This event is Barcelona’s main Gay and Lesbian festival taking place for its already 7th time in 2014. From August 6th to August 17th visitors can experience a manifold time including concerts, parades, sun, fun and parties heated up by more than 50 DJ’s and various artists performing. The Circuit Festival is the biggest European festival of its kind and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year longing to spend some colorful days. The main event of the Circuit is the Circuit Festival Water Park Day in the Illa Fantasia Waterpark in the city’s north: expect one huge and refreshing party under the burning sun of Barcelona. Mas i Mas Festival: Barcelona’s summer wouldn’t be completed without this annual pleasure. Every year the famous Mas i Mas Festival attracts thousands of visitors looking to attend one – or some – of its great concerts. From July 10th to August 31st the established music festival will again fill the city with fine sounds by various national and international artists of great reputation. Performances take place in different locations throughout the whole city – e.g. MUHBA, Jamboree and Palau de la Musica – and offer something for everybody: from Jazz, over Flamenco and Techno to Soul and Funk, there is quiet no genre that wouldn’t be represented. Expect magnificent musicians like Aloe Blacc, Jeff Beck and many more and safe yourself some tickets!
Festa de Sant Roc: Since we already talked about Gràcia’s very own festival, we don’t want to keep you in the dark about another amazing district event. The Festa de Sant Roc is the festival of the area Barri Gòtic and celebrated every year since the early days of 1589. This happening is basically a big street party and includes mainly everything traditional Barcelona has to offer: there are parades with giants and fat heads, sardana dancing and 19th century street games. The famous event takes annually place on the 3rd weekend of August – which marks August 15th to 17th in 2014 – and convinces with its classic atmosphere and an amazing firework at the final day.
