December in Madrid

There are plenty of great activities that you can do in December in Madrid. So if your plans are to visit the Spanish capital at that time of the year, here is how to make the most of your trip during this amazing time of the year:

The Navibus
There are so many festive lights twinkling in the streets all over the city so a good way to enjoy those breathtaking views of holiday lights is by riding the Navibus, which is a double-decker bus that goes through Madrid´s center, so if you are going with your family that should be at the top of the list of things that you have to do. The bus runs from December 1 to January 6.

Christmas lights
Every year, all the neighborhoods of Madrid are decorated with the best Christmas lights that have been created by artists all over the world. Typically, each neighborhood has its own fantastic displays that are lit up between 18:00 and 23:00 every day and on Christmas and New Years eve have longer hours.

Churros with chocolate
There are so many spots in Madrid where you can taste some typical sweets, one of the most famous are the churros with chocolate which are one of our favorite cold-weather snacks and are perfect to warm you on a chilly December day. You can find them at the Chocolateria San Ginés which is open 24 hours a day.

Skiing
Madrid is close to the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain and the ski resort of Puerta de Navacerrada, so for those who love adventures, this could be a good destination. It is easy to access as a day trip from Madrid with local commuter trains that will take to the slopes. The best time to hit the slopes is early in the morning to make the most of your day snowboarding or skiing.

What to do in Madrid
The cultural agenda in 'the city which never sleeps' is never empty. There are a vast number of bars and restaurants with great traditional food and there are many sites that you can visit in Madrid like Plaza Mayor in MadridEl Escorial or Las Ventas.
