January sales

Of course, in most places, and Rome is no exception, in January the post Christmas sales start and shops are full of people searching for some clothes for the new year and spending their Christmas Money! These sales are known as ´´Saldi´´ and are great sales that are held once every 6 months (July and January), which are regulated by the Italian government. In Rome they are great for receiving discounts on  virtually all goods in everywhere from big stores to family owned shops.

The Saldi lasts until about the middle of February and so smart shoppers will wait until after Christmas to buy their goods. There are bargains to be found everywhere and during the Winter sales the Italian shopkeepers are especially open to bartering. So it is always worth a try if you want to get some even better discounts!

January 6 – Epiphany and Befana.
It is the 12th and final day of christmas. This is also a public holiday so there are always a lot of fun things happening. On this day, Befana ( a kind christmas witch) arrives bringing presents, so it is an exciting day for all the children. Befana dolls can be purchased in most tourist shops or at Piazza Navona Christmas Market.
On this day there is also a large gathering of hundreds of people that fill the vatican city dressed up in medival outfits and bring symbolic gifts for the pope. The pope also does a morning mass in St Peters Basilica

The Ice Park at the Auditorium: From December 8  to January 8, the Parco della Musica Auditorium will be embracing the festive spirit and opening its doors to the city with the show “Natale all’Auditorium” (“Christmas at the Auditorium”). For over a month, all sorts of attractions inside and out of the theater will bring in people of all ages, local residents and tourists alike.

Outside in the walking area, the city will once again set up the ice rink Sottozero – Ice Park, a 600sqm ice rink for children and adults which gives locals and tourists a chance to go skating amid the “Natale all’Auditorium” wonderland.

On January 26 the world famous musician Ed Sheeran is giving a concert in Rome at the Palalottomatica (Piazzale dello Sport 00100 Rome, Italy). Get your tickets for the Ed Sheeran concert here. Make sure to get them sooner rather than later as it is expected to be a sellout!
