By far the largest gay parade in Spain and with around two million people taking to the streets, one of the biggest pride events in the world. It so overshadowed other pride events in Spain that it was moved back a week to allow regional events to flourish.
Bullfighting in Las Ventas Bullring
Bullfighting in Spain is probably one of its main traditions and so a lot of bullrings in Spain are overrun with tourists and can lose their authenticity. This is not the case with The Ventas bullring in Madrid which is where the most hardcore of bullfighting fans can be seen week in week out, watching the very best bullfighters. Bullfighting is obviously not the sport for everyone and is sometimes frowned upon but if you wish to check it out and decide for yourself then this is definitely the place to do it.
Inside Las Ventas Bullring there is also the Bullfighting Museum which is totally free and gives a great introduction to the way the fights work and the costumes and equipment that is used.
Bullfights are every Sunday (during the season) at 7pm from mid-May (during the San Isidro festival) until October. There is no bullfighting in Madrid outside the season.

Visit La Reina Sofia Art Collection
Picasso´s Guernica (Image by Manuel Galrinho)
La Reina Sofia is a fantastic modern art collection, which houses the world famous piece – Picasso's Guernica. The strange modernist painting is a graphic portrayal of the massacre of an entire village by the Germans during the Spanish Civil War and is one of the artists most well known pieces. There are also several great pieces by Salvador Dali. If you are into art then you should definitely pay a visit as it is considered by many to be some of the most impressive art of the 20th century.
Address: Santa Isabel 52, though best reached from c/Atocha. Nearest Metro: Atocha.
