Festival Jardin de Pedralbes

Festival Jardin de Pedralbes is a series of outdoor concerts organized at the Pedralbes Gardens of Palau Reial. The event is going on from 5th June to 15th July. The first Festival Jardin de Pedralbes was held in 2013, and it has been organized ever since that.

At the festival you can see a high-quality artist line-up. At the stage will perform Rufus Wainwright, Kool & The Gang, Ludovico Einaudi, Tony Bennet, Art Garfunkel and many more.

On the afternoon of Sunday 11th of June is held Día de la Música en Familia, The Day of Family Concerts. More information about the family concerts here.

Summer Nights at La Pedrera

On the rooftop of Gaudi’s La Pedrera you can enjoy live jazz concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer. The first concert will take place on Friday 9th of June.

The concert series presents the most talented young jazz artists of Barcelona, creating together with the international jazz scene a spectacular live soundtrack to lighten up the city’s summer nights.

Corpus Christi 2017 Barcelona

Corpus Christi is celebrated in Barcelona from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th of May. It is one of the oldest celebrations in Barcelona and has been taking place since 1320.

This year there will be two Corpus Christi processions featuring traditional figures like the giants, traditional Catalan music, and the Barcelona animal legend figures. Usually the other route start from Plaça de San Jaume, going then down on Carrer del Bisbe, and finishing at Plaça Nova at the Gothic Quarter. The second procession called Processó de Corpus Christi starts from the Barcelona La Seu cathedral, and ofter going around the Gothic Quarter finishes back at the La Seu cathedral.

One of the Corpus Christi traditions is to make an egg “dance” on a jet of water. This tradition has been part of the celebrations since 1637. The “Dancing Egg” can be seen usually for example at the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres, the Poble Espanyol Spanish village at Montjüic area, the cloisters of Barcelona cathedral La Seu, and the Pedralbes monastery.

Nit de Sant Joan

The St. John’s Eve celebrations are held on Friday 23rd of June. The celebrations take many forms and are held across the country. In Barcelona it is popular to celebrate with neighbors, friends and families by getting together and enjoying meals, music and bonfires.

Plaça de Sant Jaume will be the scene of the Canigó Flame in the afternoon of 23rd June. The flame is received by representatives of the municipal authorities, and after that the representatives goes and lights bonfires in each neighborhood across the city.

After the bonfires are lit the celebrations begin on the streets and squares of Barcelona.

La Patum de Berga Festival

La Patum is a one week long festivity celebrated during the Corpus Christi. It is a UNESCO World Heritage festival and it’s been celebrated yearly ever since 1454. This year the dates for the festival are from Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th of June.

La Patum festival features parades and street shows companied by different figures and characters. Fire and dance are in a central role. The highlight of the festival has traditionally been on Thursday and Sunday evenings when the “salto de plens”, fire devils, are jumping to the rhythm of music.

The festival is held in the town of Berga. You can visit it by taking a bus from Barcelona Nord bus station. The one-way traveling time will be 1,5 hours approx.
