Every year on or about the 3rd October, the Saint Francis of Assisi is celebrated. He died on the same day in 1226. In Rome, there is a wreath-laying near the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano. Otherwise, you can go to the Church of San Francesco a Ripa in Trastevere where Saint Francis stayed in a hospice in 1219.

Hunger Run in Rome
The annual Hunger Run event in Rome is this year on Sunday 19th October. This fund-raising event is supposed to help the poor to improve their ability to produce and access food. There are a ten-km race (only for athletes with a FIDAL membership card) and an non-competitive five-km run or walk. Both of them take place in the historic centre of Rome, which will be closed to traffic.  Registrations are still open, and it costs only 10 Euro to participate.

However, Rome is more than cultural life. This city has so much more to offer. If you are not interested in all those cultural events, you can walk through the city and discover several little spots. You don't like walking, rent a bike or scooters and experince the city on a new way.
