And old Italian song says: Porta Portese what do you get more?
Porta Portese, which operates on Sundays from 7am until 2pm, is the most important flea market in Rome and is one of the largest flea markets in Europe. In addition to this, it is a funny place, so typical and real: if you are interested in finding out about the character of the Romans, this is the right place to start!
It is located at the back of Trastevere Quarter and here you'll find a bit of everything: many good antiques, jewellery, posters, furniture, utensils and every form of clothing. The prices are cheaper than in the tourist shops and the funniest experience is to negotiate!
To spend a morning around in the market will put you into the real roman atmosphere: buying something peculiar, talking with sellers, just sitting in a bar and watching the colourful crowd around you can certainly be an Italian experience you will never forget!
