“Filippino Lippi and Sandro Botticelli in 15th century Florence”
The Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome hosts the extraordinary exhibition designed to introduce the public to the approximately 34 years of Lippi's career and to compare him with the biggest and most popular artist in Renaissance: Sandro Botticelli.
Doors open from 5 October 2011 until 15 January 2012.
Paintings, frescoes and drawings that represent the evolution and the intense artistic work of Filippino Lippi, an eclectic artist who collaborated with Botticelli working on an equal footing and not only as an apprentice.
The exhibition aims to present to the public the activities of the master: famous and valuable works that reach for the occasion, great exhibitions of the Scuderie del Quirinale, the most important museums around the world and a small, superb private collection.
It will be a unique opportunity to see the masterpieces of the Tuscan master gathered in Rome itself, and to compare his style with some of the great works of Botticelli, teacher, friend and finally rival.
