La Rificolona: The Festival of the Paper Lanterns belongs to our favorite nights of the year. Here in Florence, the "Festa della Rificolona" is an evening parade through the streets of the city. Rificolona is a traditional event, celebrated since Middle Age on September 7th. The lovely ‘Festival of the Lanterns’ is said to be one of Florence’s oldest tradition.

Nowadays, la Rificolona is an entertaining festival, mainly dedicated to children. You will see Florence lighted up by hundreds of paper lanterns, parading along the historical centre.

Markets in Florence: The markets are the most authentic way to discover the taste of the city. Markets in Florence offer the visitor an authentic view into the city´s life. Here the visitor gets the opportunity to buy traditional products as well as to stroll along most beautiful places and spots. Please take note:

*MERCATO CENTRALE
(Central Market) is an imposing iron-and-glasses building where you can find any kind of fresh products as well as all the delicious typical Tuscan food.

*MERCATO DI SAN LORENZO
The most important market in Florence is opened almost every day. You can find clothes, jewelry, leather products (one of the pride of Florence), souvenirs… Walking around there is always a pleasure!

*MERCATO DEL PORCELLINO
This market is definitely a tourist spot, and absolutely overpriced. You can find the same products with a notable price difference for example in San Lorenzo Market or in some shops in the city centre.

*MERCATO DELLE CASCINE
The biggest and cheapest market in Florence: it takes place in the Cascine Park every Tuesday morning (from 7 to 14). It’s a lovely location, along the river Arno and immersed into the green of the park. You can find almost everything: clothes, houseware stands, antiquities, beauty products and also general grocery – whatever you want!
