B-Bar Rooftop Terrace

Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 391, Eixample, 08015

The B-Bar at the top of the B-Hotel offers one of the best rooftop terraces in the whole of Barcelona. The spacious terrace gives an ideal view over the whole of Plaza Espanya and you can even see the MNAC art museum. As well as this it is right next to the Arena which is beautifully lit up at night and it also offers the "too-blue-to-be-true" pool which always catches peoples eye. Compared to other rooftop bars, the B-Bar is reasonably priced and offers various tapas dishes and delicious drinks which you can enjoy whilst gazing out over Plaza Espanya.

Opening times: daily 8pm-1am

Prices from: Beer €3, glass of wine €4, cocktail €9

Sky Bar at Grand Hotel Central

Vía Laietana, 30, Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, 08003

Many of Barcelona's rooftops offer a somewhat limited view of the city's major sights. The Sky Bar Terrace at the top of the Grand Hotel Central is not one of those. It features a large clear swimming pool and breathtaking views of almost the entire city, so its unsurprising that this hidden gem is quite popular. It is open from 8.30pm but it gets very busy very quickly so it is best to get there early in order to get a table. If you can´t make it there early then usually you can expect to wait for a free table as the bar takes no reservations. Despite this it is definetely worth the wait as, unlike some other rooftop bars, the drinks and food here are comparatively cheap.

Opening Times: Mar-Oct daily 8.30pm–1am
Prices from: Beer €3, glass of wine €4, cocktail €10

Biergarten

Plaça Pius XII, Pedralbes, Barcelona, 08034

Beer gardens (or Biergarten) are very popular in Germany, and especially in Bavaria. Barcelona now has its own Biergarten, though of course it is only open during the summer months. Located next to the Hotel Princesa Sofia, it offers a good selection of German culinary delights as well as superb beer.

Torre Rosa

Francesc Tàrrega, 22, Sant Andreu, Barcelona, 08027

That sentence written in all the guidebooks about the 'incomparable setting' was likely invented to talk about Torre Rosa. Drinking a cocktail in a house formerly owned by one of the 'indios' or 'Americanos' (Catalans who left and made good on the other side of the pond and then returned to spend their wealth) can have a hand in making your heart skip a beat or two. This is possibly one of the most perfect places in Barcelona. Behind the bar you'll find Jordi Reig, who will tell you everything anyone could ever want to know about the different types of rum and how to mix a good mojito. If you aren't in the mind space for explanations and would rather imagine yourself in Havana, just head out to the terrace and do a bit of moon gazing.
