February in Madrid

Madrid is the city that never sleeps, there’s always something going on in Spain’s beautiful and vibrant full of life capital. Despite that February is not a very popular month among visitors you should make your trip to Madrid because if you don’t want to spend a lot of money this would be a good time to visit since flights and hotels are generally cheaper. Also, the weather is not that much cold as in some other European cities. There are world-class museums, lively tapas bars, cozy cafes and so much more. Visit a museum
For those who love to spend a lot of time in the museums, Madrid is a perfect destination with international icons such as the Prado and the Reina Sofia drawing millions of visitors every year so one visit at those is a must. On the other side, there are museums that are not very famous and popular but during your visit to Madrid you should check out also some less known museums like the Museo del Romanticismo. It is installed in an 18th-century building that collects 19th- century art and customs from the Romantic period. You can see paintings, musical instruments, housewares, furniture and other objects that will transport you back in time to one of the most beautiful periods. You can visit the museum from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm and on Sundays, it is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The ticket price is 3 euros.

Royal Palace
The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal family. The Palace has 135,000 square meters of floor and contains 3,418 rooms. It is the largest functioning royal palace in Europe. The Palace is located on Calle Bailén ( Bailén Street) in the western part of downtown Madrid. Several rooms are open to the public except during state functions. It definitely would be a great experience. The admission fee is 13 euros but some days it is free.

Plaza de España
The Plaza España is very popular and one of the largest squares in the country, it is 36,900 square meters. The good and central location makes it ideal for tourists to take photographs and rest after a long time walking. The square has also a lot of restaurants to enjoy a meal, cinemas, theatres, and many stores for shopping and shows nearby. It is a must destination if you are in Madrid. Also, the Palacio Real is only a short walk south from the Plaza.

Eat cocido 
One of the great winter pleasures in Madrid is cocido madrileño, the perfect winter warm-up. It is traditionally served in three courses: the first is a noodle soup, after a portion of vegetables and chickpeas, and at the end the stewed meats. It is very delicious so make sure that if you will come to Madrid in February you will get into a cozy local restaurant to enjoy this homemade and local plate.

Madrid in February is the perfect destination for you if:

You don’t like the places crowded with tourists as this month there are not many visitors.
