Exhibition Madrid Close to our Magdalena 38 Madrid apartment, in Lavapies area,  you can visit this Exhibition.  To celebrate that the "Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid" is 100 years old, it will be presents this exhibition about the relationship,artistic and intellectual,  between Salvador Dalí and Federico García Lorca during his stay in this important institution  of Spanish culture in the first third of the twentieth century. The exhibition, collected plenty of documentary material, significant works of the poet from Granada and the Catalan artist, and also a selection of pieces from other European avant-garde artists who influenced his career,like Picasso, Cézanne, Le Corbusier, De Chirico, Miró and Ernst. The tour is completed in the student residence with a room recreation of the center in 1922. Also include an extensive program of complementary activities, including concerts and a documentary.

Madrid Pick of the week 27 September-3 October 2010

Mamma mia! Musical. C/Gran Vía, 78. Madrid. Teatro Coliseum.

Based on the songs of Swedish group Abba, Mamma mia!  was the first  musical written from the songs of a pop band. The author of the libretto, Catherine Johnson, placed the story on a Greek island and on the eve of a wedding, whose bride has to figure out who her real father. The humor, and songs of Abba , recognizable by every kind of audience , form the leitmotif of this story.

Praised by prestigious New York art publications , the work of German photographer especially noted for his series of portraits .In his main focus is the individual and the psychological portrait of himself.For his series "The visitors", Dietmar invited different characters in the scene of downtown Manhattan to be photographed. The photographs in this set us back to classic photography of the 30s and 40s.

Are you in one of our Madrid apartment and are you looking for a good restaurant? We recommend you "Casa Alberto" restaurant. A bar has stood on this site since 1614 and it is thought that Miguel de Cervantes, the most famous Spanish author of  all of them , wrote parts of his works here. The current institution is a relative newcomer, having been founded in 1827, but as it has changed little since then, the place now resembles a living museum with all sorts of interesting posters, paintings and other objects adorning the walls.  Casa Alberto offers quality tapas and a good range of wines, particularly those from Rioja.

Close to Paseo del Prado, near our Attic Apartment, you can enjoy this Exhibition. In Association with Lancôme Paris, for the first time in Spain, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is presenting the work of the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino. The 54 images in the exhibition focus on both his activities as a fashion photographer as well as on his more personal images and impressions that were specially created for this exhibition. Combining analogue photography with the most cutting-edge digital technology, Testino reveals the process and implications involved in the process of removing one’s clothes to become naked. The women in his photographs are first shown in all their glamour as top models and celebrities wearing haute couture dresses, then in their naked beauty.

A passion for Renoir. Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute Collection. 

Exposición Renoir. El Prado Museum . MadridOver thirty works from the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute make up this exhibition covering all the genres cultivated by this artist: portrait, female figure, nudes, landscapes, still life and flowers.
This exhibit at the Museo del Prado tells us two stories. First, there is the story of Renoir and second there is the story behind the collection's origin. The works come from the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute where they were brought together by the creator of the Institute, Robert Sterling Clark (1877-1956).

El Cielo del Urban Restaurant. MadridA glass dining in the heart of the most sought terrace during the Madrid's summer. A private space within a unique setting where the candles of the chandeliers dominate the gloom and the light just for each table. Silver tablecloths and aprons for the waiters, a young and carefree service who knows his job perfectly, and two menus designed for very special days: the Urban Menu and the Menu of Heaven. There are only two differences: the first served with Champagne Laurent Perrier Brut and the second with Dom Perignon 1999.

Federico Fellini. El circo de las Ilusiones. Paseo del Prado, 36, CaixaForum Madrid. 15/07/2010 – 26/12/2010

The exhibition "Federico Fellini" has more than 400 photographs, drawings, magazines, posters and film clips so far unpublished. In "The circus of illusions" the images are displayed with the aim of presenting the Italian director through his obsessions, not following a strictly chronological order. The exhibition are reorganized around four main areas: Fellini and popular culture; Fellini in his work, The City of Women, and Fellini biography or invention.
