July in Venice

Posted by at 10:28 on Traditions,Venice

Venice is always a magical place to spend some amazing days. Traveling to the city of canals in July is not just extra special because of the amazing weather but also because of the great events of all kinds. Whoever wants to discover this magnificent and romantic city to the fullest should take a look at our chosen event tips for Venice in July.

Festa del Redentore: Venice has several festivities which date back to the early days of the 16th/17th century. Not just one of these but also the biggest and most popular one is the Festa del Redentore. This event started as a feast to show the city’s gratefulness after the end of the terrible plague in 1576, which was responsible for the death of 50.000 inhabitants. After Venice survived this huge menace the town built a big church called il Redentore, the festivals name giver. In 2014 the traditional and annual feast will be held on July 19th and 20th and probably attract again thousands of visitors. Today the Redentore stands for a great mix of an historical, religious theme and spectacular festivities providing an amazing experience. On the schedule is usually a parade of boots beautifully decorated with balloons and lanterns, a traditional Venetian dinner and – as the spectacular highlight – a fantastic fireworks lighting up the whole city in bright and shiny colors. Take part and get enchanted!

Venezia Jazz Festival: Venice definitely just loves music! Even though the city is more famous for its amazing classical music concerts and delicate operas, also more modern sounds are warmly welcomed in the historical wonderland. In this case a great event to attend is the Venezia Jazz Festival. The annual Venetian happening is an established showcase organized by the collaboration of VenetoJazz and considered one of the most important music events in Italy. What’s especially distinguishing is its combination of a varied programm and an extraordinary location within the amazing beauty of Venice’s heart. Since 2008 the festivals hosts national and international renowned artists and convinces in 2014 with names like Keith Jarret, Paolo Conto and many others. The 7th edition takes place from July 2nd to 7th and promises five days of the finest of Jazz music. Find out more about the programm online and get your tickets right away!

“12” – International Design in Venice: After music and tradition we can also offer something for friends and lovers of interior design. Interested visitors can look forward to “12”, an exhibition dedicated to furniture of all colors and sizes from international designers. The event’s rather cryptic name has a reason as simple as logic: the showcase presents “12” different itmes – that’s why. The works of design include benches, chairs, consoles and Co. and find themselves in the spaces of the Ca’ Pesaro, International Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Palazzo Fortuny to be experienced “not only as works to admire but also as objects of particular use, turning the Museum into a physical place to live”. This interesting exhibition is currently held and will be able to visit until July 14th. Tickets are regularly between 7,50€ and 10,00€ and can be bought on the spot or online in advance.
