Barcelonians profit from the Mediterranean climate, which brings hot summers and mild winters.

Winter

The winter season in Barcelona is usually mild and occassionally one can expect rain showers from time to time. Temperature never falls below 0º C though, and one can expect beautiful blue skies and lots of sunshine. Average temperature lay around 13º C during the day and 7º C at night. This temperature invites you to visit Barcelona's museums, such as MNAC, MACBA, Museu Picasso and many more. Or one could take in Barcelona from the top, either from Tibidabo, Bunkers del Carmel, or Park Güell.

Spring

Spring transforms Barcelona into a blooming paradise. The days are getting longer and the temperature are rising up to 20º during the day, though nights can still be a bit chilly. One can expect few rainy days, but the weather forecast is predominantly sunny and clear blue skies.

Early Summer (May/June)

The early summer months, May and June, are probably the best time to visit Barcelona, since the temperature is pleasant, rising up to 25º C, and it's sunny all around. This weather calls for outdoor activities, such as visiting Parc de la Ciutadella, or walking up Montjüic hill to discover the several gardens on the way or enjoy the beautiful panoramic view on top.

One will see many people out and about, just relaxing in the sun and enjoying a coffee or a caña (small beer).

During the night it is mild, calling for a light jacket.

Late Summer (July/August)

The temperature peaks in July and August, where it can be as hot as 30-33º C. Due to the humidity, it might appear to be even hotter!

You can be assured that all Barcelona's beaches are filled up to the rim, especially Barceloneta (hotspot for tourists). We recommend the beaches in Poblenou (Mar Bella, Bogatell) which attract more the local audiences, and are cleaner than the crowded beachside at Barceloneta.

Visitors will experience lots of festivals and open air events during summer.

Autumn

After the hot and sluggish summer months, Barcelona recovers from the high heat and can enjoy cooler, but still warm, temperatures (22-25ºC). Sunny days still prevail, and are perfect for a stroll around the city! In November, one can feel the city cooling down a bit. A light jacket is recommended during the night.

One can expect some rainy days from time to time. Even though they aren't real rain showers, but more like drizzles.
