Jazz fans from all over the world know Barcelona as the city where the International Jazz Festival is hosted every year. What they don't know is that Barcelona is actually full of many venues supporting this genre.
Here is the list of jazz clubs and bars in each district of Barcelona. Check them out and see where you want to go.
Eixample
JazzMan
Located in the center of the city, Eixample is the most popular district in Barcelona. Besides the big brand shops and restaurants, this district offers many bars with quality live music. If you do not know where to go to, we recommend the JazzMan – a small jazz club with a great soul hidden in the Roger de Flor street. It is opened in 1979 and has two quiet rooms that are perfect for having a cup of coffee during the day. When the sun goes down, jazz artists like Farre Marti as well as some new jazz talents gather on the attic where they play various styles of jazz, blues, and soul. This old club is a warm place where you can feel the closeness with artists and enjoy a drink at the bar with a view of the balcony floor above you.
Ciutat Vella
The Jamboree club
The Jamboree club is one of the clubs that are responsible for bringing famous jazz musicians to Barcelona. Bill Coleman, Chet Baker, Lou Bennet, Kenny Clarke, Dexter Gordon, and a lot of other great players were hosted in this club. Every Monday at 8 pm club's stage become a place where Latin or blues gigs by mainly Spanish groups come to play new and popular WTF jazz. From midnight, the club plays hip-hop, R&B, and soul so you can dance there until the morning hours.
Gracia
Café Vienés Jazz Club
Every Thursday between 9 pm and 11 pm, “Café Viens” becomes an exclusive Jazz Club. Located in Passeig de Gràcia, this club is well known as the place where you can feel like a star from a noir film listening to a live jazz and swing soundtrack playing by the popular and professional jazz musicians like Woody Allen, Conal Fowkes, New Orleans Rag Trio, Barcelona Swing Serenaders and others.
El Raval
Robadors 23
This independent live-music bar has a spectacular Flamenco night every Saturday and it is the best place in the city to feel the Spanish culture and music. It is located at one of El Raval’s liveliest squares and it is popular for playing Gypsy jazz and Balkans jazz. You do not have to waste your time finding your evening outfit because everyone in this club are very Informal and relaxed. Enjoy in the intimate atmosphere while listening to professional and amateur jazz musicians and get there early so you can find the best seat.
