To many, a cup of coffee is not so much about the taste but the impact that the caffeine has on our day. If that is you the following article might not be of interest, but I advise you to at least try one of the recommended spots and give great-tasting coffee a try. The good news for people who do care just as much about the taste is that the specialty coffee scene has been growing in Barcelona over the past years, now the city offers many fantastic spots boasting remarkable quality coffee with unique baristas.
Orval Barcelona
Orval is a brand new coffee shop that opened this year. Located 5 minutes from Arc de Triomf Orval is the perfect place to grab a wonderful coffee and visit a great sight. Orval’s tagline is “where plants meet coffee” which runs true in the shop's appearance; plants are displayed throughout along with the exposed concrete to give the shop a very rustic and natural feel.
Nomad Coffee
Nomad has three locations throughout Barcelona, one in El Raval (open every day), one a 5-minute walk from Arc de Triomf (open Mon to Fri) and one located in El Poblenou (open Mon to Fri). If you go to Nomad in the hotter months be sure to ask for the famous cold brew and cold drip. Nomad does not offer Wi-Fi but what it does offer is great coffee in relaxing locations.
Satan’s Coffee
If you are a serious coffee lover this is the spot for you away from the tourist-filled streets, Satan’s coffee shop is located in Barcelona’s Gothic District and can be found in-between a jungle of buildings. Inside you will find yourself in a bright space due to the huge windows that give you a view of the quiet surrounding streets. They serve Japanese style breakfast and doughnuts which go perfectly with their delicious coffee.
Skye Coffee
Skye Coffee is certainly a different type of space, with a coffee van placed inside of an old warehouse. It could be described as a creative space with most visitors coming from the surrounding offices in Sant Marti. If you want to experience something unique and try something new I would recommend making the trip and have an authentic cup of coffee.
SlowMov
SlowMov is a charming place to come and enjoy a warm cup of coffee located in the Grácia area. SlowMov is making strides towards connecting coffee lovers with the farmers who grow coffee beans while respecting the natural ecosystems and surrounding environment. They source the coffee in small amounts directly from farmers and then bring it back to Barcelona to roast.
