Basically everybody enjoys a nice city trip, don’t you? If you’re might be planning on traveling the world during the pleasant month of April, we would like to suggest Madrid as your next destination. A city, that doesn’t only offer great architecture but also a lot of exciting things to do. These four events should be marked red in your calendar:
Rock “n” Roll Madrid Marathon: Let’s start things off with something sporty! On April 27th Madrid will host its famous marathon again, which is one of the most important sport events nationwide. For the 37th time athletes can turn their laps in Spain’s capital – but this time there is something new about it: the running will join in the Rock “n” Roll Marathon Series, which in this matter is the biggest circuit in the whole world. Participants can either take part in a full-out marathon, a half marathon or also a 10K run – so there a different distances for people of all kinds of fitness levels. But there won’t just be people racing around to watch: a great supporting programm is planned containing live music on more than 20 stages, tasty food and drinks etc. Therefore the Madrid Marathon will be a real big sporting celebration. Le Corsaire: The lovely ballet "Le Corsaire" features the experiences of Conrad, a young pirate (“corsaire”) who is extremely in love with a beautiful harem girl named Medora. The fearless story contains a lot of tension facing love, betrayal, conflicts and drama presenting a wide range of human feelings transported via the art of dancing. Staring the prominent English National Ballet – which glows in amazing costumes – is another cause why culture lovers won’t regret their visit for sure. From April 24th to 27th the cast will present their amazing skills at the Teatros del Canal. You need to know that tickets are highly recommended – so you really shouldn’t hesitate to get yours as soon as possible.
Picasso. In the Workshop: From February still until May 11th people can enjoy a unique art exhibition being hosted in the Fundación Mapfre. During that time the foundation holds “Picasso. In the workshop”, which presents 160 of his spectacular works being on loan from around 30 different public and also private owners. To give a wide audience the great possibility to admire his various talents, the exhibition contains paintings, engravings, photographs, drawings and palettes, giving an overview of Picasso’s creations and his artistic development. “Picasso. In the workshop” is to explore the complex relationships that Picasso had with his studios, where art and life intermingled”, Maite Ocaña, the museum’s curator, layed down the exhibition’s intentions and thereby points out why attending could be so interesting. Festimad 2M: Festivals are just amazing! And right here we have one that is really, really cool! The Festimad is not just one of Madrid’s most exciting music events but probably one of the best across the whole country of Spain. From April 23rd to May 10th melody lovers of all kinds travel to the Spanish capital to enjoy various bands heating up the audience. Playing in more than 20 different locations all over the city, the Festimad Festival hosts basically all types of music like Hip Hop, Electro, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Flamenco etc. Except of its liking of celebrating the diversity of music, the Festimad is also known for having a lot of newcomers and young artists.
