In October Barcelona calms down after hectic summer months and sets ready for the incoming winter. This does not mean a lack of interesting events and activities to take part in.
International Jazz Festival
Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Fest presents its 49th edition this autumn. The festival is going on from October until December. Barcelona International Jazz Fest is a traditional jazz festival and one of the most important in the world in its own genre. It presents each year an elaborate line-up both with heavyweight artists and new up-coming names.
The concerts takes place on various stages in Barcelona and in addition to jazz music the festival includes interesting conferences, meet-ups with the artists and so on.

Barcelona BBQ Festival & Competition
This is a festival for all the fans of a great BBQ party! The 1st edition of Barcelona BBQ Festival & Competition is organized on Plaça de Sant Josep square in El Raval neighborhood during the weekend 20th to 22nd of October.
The aim of the festival and idea of the founder Brian Heinen is to promote Barcelona as the perfect barbeque city: “There is no other city in Europe like it, with an average annual temperature of 20ºC, plenty of sunshine, beautiful beaches and exceptional food products, and I hope to promote this culinary culture to the rest of Europe and beyond.”
At the festival you can enjoy watching the competition of teams from around Barcelona, the delicious food made by local chefs and restaurants on the BBQ for public, different workshops, live music and so on.

Barcelona Wine & Cava Festival 2017
The 37th edition of Barcelona Wine & Cava Festival is held during the weekend from 27th to 29th October. Barcelona’s biggest wine festival presents wine and cava from the best Catalan vineyards from all over Catalonia.
Barcelona Wine & Cava Festival takes part on street Passeig de Lluís Company at the Arc de Triomf. There will be over 70 top wineries taking part and presenting wines from 12 Catalan origins such as Cava, Conca de Barbera, Costers del Segre, Tarragona and Terra Alta regions.
The event is organized by Institut del Cava and Associació Vinícola Catalana.
Football
In October Barcelona’s beloved football team FC Barcelona plays three matches on their home arena Camp Nou Stadium.
The first game will be played on Sunday 1st October against UD Las Palmas. The game is part of the Spanish league La Liga. You can buy tickets from here.
The second game is part of the UEFA Champions League and played against Greek team Olympiacos FC. The match is at Camp Nou Stadium on Wednesday 18th of October. You can buy tickets from here.
The third match of October is played on Saturday 21st of October against Malaga CF. This match is part of the Spanish league La Liga. You can buy tickets from here.
Andy Warhol: The Art Mechanic
CaixaForum presents an exhibition showing Andy Warhol’s creative evolution by offering a viewpoint to his relationship with industrial techniques and machines. The exhibition Andy Warhol: The Art Mechanic is going on until 31st December and it’s giving a thorough look on his career from the early graphic design up to his becoming a pop art icon.
At the exhibition in CaixaForum you can experience 352 pieces of art, including installations, films, design of magazines and so on that all belong to famous museums from around the world, such as MoMA in New York and the Pittsburgh Andy Warhol Museum.
