January in Madrid

The holiday season in Spain doesn’t end when January 1st rolls around. There are so many things to do all month long. Spain’s beautiful capital is a great place to spend the first month of 2020 as a whole. When Christmas ends ( after January 7th) Madrid becomes quieter and its a nice and calm period for those who prefer to avoid the tourist rush and enjoy their walk around the center, the famous Plaza Mayor and the attractions like the Crystal Palace, Almudena Cathedral. Here you will find what to do in Madrid for a perfect start to your year.
Roscón de Reyes
In early January people in Madrid go crazy for the special Three Kings cake, roscón de Reyes. It’s a ring-shaped cake which is a sweet bread decorated with colorful candied fruits and inside usually has chocolate cream. On January 6 is the best breakfast, dessert or snack to taste. But be careful when you eat it because there are two surprises inside the cake! If you get the piece with the small king you are the king or the queen of the party and you have to wear the crown that most of the cakes come with, but if you are not that lucky and you get the bean you have to pay for the cake according to the tradition. This definitely would be a funny experience.
