In September is celebrated the biggest street festival in Barcelona, called Festes de la Mercè.

Festes de la Mercè
La Mercè is the biggest street festival in Barcelona and held every year around 25th of September. This year the festivities are celebrated from 22nd to 25th of September. La Mercè festival has been organized since 1902, even though some years it has been much smaller event compared on what it is now.
This festival is definitely worth visiting if you’re staying in Barcelona in September! Streets of the city will be filled up with different activities and traditional dances, events and actions.

Festa Major del Poblenou
Poblenou is a neighborhood with its own special character, and it celebrates its mayor street festival from 8th to 18th of September.
During 10 days streets of the neighborhood will be crowded with events, music, dance, art and so on. Not to mention all the Catalan traditions such as Castellers and correfoc.

Festa Major de la Barceloneta
Barceloneta neighborhood celebrates its Festa Major around 29th of September. At the celebrations you can enjoy decorated streets and Catalan traditions such as human towers called Castellers, sardana dancers and correfoc, which is a special “fire-run”.

Exhibitions in MACBA
MACBA is one of the biggest and most famous museums in Barcelona. In September you can visit three different exhibitions held inside the walls of this interesting modernism building.

MACBA Collection. Martha Rosler: God Bless America!
Martha Rosler (New York, 1943) was a pioneer in 1970 on using video as a tool for social analysis. During almost a 50 years career her art have been reflecting a critical viewpoint against the contemporary culture throughout her feminist perspective and political engagement.
Forensic Architecture – Towards an Investigative Aesthetics
Forensic Architecture is a research group taking series of investigations into human rights and state crimes. The exhibition shows the investigations and the origins, history and assumptions behind them.
Akram Zaatari – Against Photography
Akram Zaatari is one of the founders of the AIM, Arab Image Foundation. This exhibition presents 20 years history of the photograph in Arab culture as memory, descriptive object and aesthetics. The exhibition is organized by MACBA and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea.
Football
In September the football team FC Barcelona plays two home games on Camp Nou stadium. The both matches are part of the Spanish La Liga.
The first game is played against RCD Espanyol on Saturday 9th of September. You can buy tickets to the match from here.
