Posted by at 17:14 on General

We all know that no matter how much you want/deserve to go on holiday, it can always be a bit of a hassle to organize when you have young children because you have to balance their needs with your own. In this article we have listed 5 different activities which we think will appeal to children of different ages so you can tailor the activities based on the ages and desires of your children.

Museu-de-la-Xocolata

You will be pleased to know that Barcelona is very child friendly with virtually all bars and restaurants welcoming children inside. It is also very easy and quick to travel around the city using metro, tram or bus

Museo de la Xocolata (Chocolate Museum)

The Chocolate Museum (Museo de la Xocolata in Catalan) is a truly spectacular experience and the perfect place to take your family. They offer many different workshops and activites that are each aimed at different age groups from babies right the way up to adults. For example, there is a workshop for painting with (and eating!) chocolate for the youngsters and then there are guided tours of the museum as well as brandy testing with chocolate for adults. It is really a fantastic day out that will be enjoyed by the whole family. Take a look at the website here to view the different workshops and tours that are available – there are 13 in total!

The Barcelona Aquarium is another example of a place that accommodates people off all ages. Its main attraction is the Oceanari, which is a giant shark infested tank with a glass tunnel and conveyor belt that passes through it. But if this is too scary for younger children then there are other rooms with different activities where kids can play “find Nemo” amongst kaleidoscopic fish and also another room aimed at pre-school kids and is educational and fun. Visit the Barcelona Aquarium website where you will find all the information that you need about different activities.

Museum of Ideas and Inventions (MIBA)

The Museum of Ideas and Inventions was originally designed for adults to create quirky and unique inventions that can potentially be turned into prototypes. But now there is also the MiniMiba where 5-12 year olds can come up with inventions and each month 3 of the inventions are made into prototypes by a team of engineers. As well as this one of the favorite features amongst the kids is a big slide going from one floor down into the main room. Be aware though that occasionally this is closed. After the museum there is a shop where it is possible to buy some of the inventions.

Open: Tues-Fri from 10am to 7pm; Sat 10am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
Price: Adults €7.00, Children under 12 €5.00 and under 4's FREE
