Design Market, which was introduced in 2013, is a visibility and sales platform for emerging Spanish designers. This event combines art, design, street food grastronomy, and live music. Representing over 80 independent designers, the platform's objective is to bring new designers to professionals, distributors, and the public. The event takes place on the 9th/10th of December and on 16th/17th of December at Matadero Madrid.

Auschwitz Exhibition

The world premiere of the Auschwitz concentration camp exhibition will take place in Spain's capital at the Canal Art Centre.
The exhibition, produced by Muselia, will be shown all around the world for the next seven year. It includes personal belongings of prisoners in Auschwitz, who probably died there as well.
Auschwitz is the most visited concentration camp, counting up to 1.5 millions visitors each year. The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum borrowed over 600 original object for display, such as glasses of prisoners, striped pyjamas, and unidentified suitcases.
The exhibition takes place at the Canal Art Centre from 1st of December 2017 until 17th of June 2018. Prices are around 7€.

Plaza Mayor Christmas Market

As every year, Plaza Mayor transforms itself into the biggest Christmas Market in Madrid. With its 104 stands selling Christmas related produce, such as Nativity scene figures, Christmas musical instruments, and toys, everyone will be able to find something to enrich their Christmas spirit.
This year the image of the Christmas stands will change. New triangle rooftops will be installed, as well as painted on in a Christmas theme. The interior and exterior lighting will be changed as well.

International Christmas Fair of Cultures

Matadero Madrid is hosting its third edition of La Navideña Feria. Working together with embassies from 75 different countries, as well as diverse international institutions, the event showcases Christmas traditions from all around the world.
Immerse yourself in the multicultural Christmas wonder, and learn more about the different cultures and traditions.
The programme includes obver 250 activities and 75 stands, such as workshops, cooking shows, handicraft and book fair, group performances, and international music.
This event starts on 15th and ends on 29th of December.

San Silvestre Vallecana 2017

Madrid has been hosting the San Silvestre Vallecana marathon since 1964. It is probably one of the most fun sports event of the year. People have two option to run the track. Either you choose the fun run, where people usually dress up in fancy frilly dresses, or the professional run.
The track is not too advance, since 8 out of 10 kilometres are mostly downhills.
The fun run starts at 5:30 pm, while the other one begins at 8pm. The course starts at Calle Concha Espina and ends at the Vallecas Stadium.
If you want to participate, we advise you to keep an eye out for tickets since the spots fill up quite quickly.
